About the Challenge

Many of you will be familiar with previous mountain challenges that WaterAid has become famous for over the last decade. The Munro and Corbett Challenges have provided great days out for thousands of people. They have also raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for WaterAid, helping more of the poorest people in Africa and Asia climb out of poverty through access to safe water and effective sanitation.

In 2008 we introduced a brand new mountain challenge event: The WaterAid Trail 100.

Trail magazineIn April 2007 Trail magazine issued a list of their favourite 100 mountain walks in the UK. We have linked up with Trail to create a Challenge to climb them all on one day.

The Challenge is therefore to put a team of walkers on top of each of these 100 mountains between midday and 2.00 p.m. on Saturday 7 June 2008.

The list includes many famous peaks such as Snowdon and Scafell Pike, as well as lots of smaller mountains right across the UK, such as Hound Tor on Dartmoor and Roseberry Topping in North Yorkshire.

The list also includes such favourites as Foinaven in Scotland and Haystacks, one of Wainwright's favourite climbs in the Lake District. The mountains are spread across the UK, so there should be one pretty close to you. And for those who want a serious challenge, we still have a great selection of long and remote climbs.
