Water is essential for life, yet one in eight of the world’s population do not have access to it. Almost 40%, or almost two fifths, of people live without sanitation.

WaterAid, with its partners, uses practical, sustainable solutions to provide some of the world's poorest people with safe water and sanitation. Through our network of local partner organisations, we work with individuals and families in their communities, paying special attention to the role of women. And we influence others to do the same.

We believe that the provision of safe water and sanitation is an essential first step in the climb of poverty. Together with our supporters, we strive for a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation for life.
